35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question,
tempting him, saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
-- Matthew 22:35-39
35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave
me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison,
and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed
thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch
as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done
it unto me.
-- Matthew 25:35-40
Any one who would like to serve.
We are collecting shoes, glasses, vitamins and other material for the
poor in Nyarit, Mexico. You may have seen the channel 7 documentary about
Dr. Pat Kalecta who has for the last 10 years taken toys, shoes, and medical
supplies to the poor in Tepic, Nyarit. There in Tepic he bases his charity,
traveling to the countryside of Nyarit to help the poor. He has only a big
van, into which he stuffs thousands of items and travels from Seattle down
to Mexico to personally deliver the items. He accepts absolutely no monetary
donations. United Parcel Service (UPS)
has found out about this and has now offered to fly the items down, so he
is now not limited by what he can cram in his van. He spends 6 months each
winter, living among the people in Nyarit and personally fits the shoes
and other gifts. All this he does asking nothing of the people.
From now until September 14, 1996
Here in Redmond.
Because we are trying to be like Jesus.
